Went to Daymer again as today was a family beach/windsurfing day. Got there at 11ish a bit before low tide, with the strong S'easterly the beach was very sheltered from from the wind & with the wind breaks up it was very warm.had a couple of hours in the rock pools & on the beach etc with the kids before rigging up.
Rigged 5.0 which was plenty & had fun in the chop & racing back & forth across the small channel, the tide was starting to push in fast now & the channel starting to fill up, the wind was also picking up & 5.0 was a bit of a handfull in the gusts.
Got off for a bit of lunch & when i got back on it was abit more windy again but as the tide came in it meant you had to sail out through a big shadow from the big hill, but once out it was 25knts up.Doom bar was starting to get some nice waves on now & with the S'easterly i was hitting the waves head on, the waves picked to just over head high & on 1 run out i had 7 big jumps one after the other off clean nicely formed waves which was excellent, & it was like this for the next 3/4's of an hour with only me out.It was excellent jump after jump with full on sunshine & gorgeous blue seas & boiling hot,was i dreaming!
The wind increased loads more & i was gonna rig 4.2 but the waves on the bar were now fading & with the shadow on Daymer side (not even enough wind to waterstart) & surfers turning up to ride waves on that side i called it day.
A few other windsurfers turned up & 1 went out on 4.0ish but struggled with the shadow before hitting 30knts plus in the channel. There must have been 25 surfers out now enjoying the waves with cross off winds.
For enjoyment factor this was one of the best days sailing ive had for a long time.
